A quote i wrote long time ago.
"It is not important to fulfil expectation or stand up to expectation, it may not be always possible, what is more important is, to know the expectation, understand it and respect the expectation, fulfiling it or standing upto it is the matter of feasibility and it may be in or out of one's control "

Shocking but true.
"I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar or who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values & people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage." (Lord McCauley in his speech of Feb 2, 1835, British Parliament) "

It's easy.
Its easy to have fun, you just have to take first step. I realised this when i went to kayaking yesterday. Thnx to vishal who chalked out the plan and to his parents who served us amazing food. Idli, Sambar and desi sandwitch ..all simple items but served with love made the evening special. Kayaking @ Lake washington was very thrilling especially because of the traffic lake has. There were various types of boats, ships and to add to that frequently landing and taking off water planes.
We had to learn to control the kayak quite quickly largley because of the fear of being run over by the water planes. Eventhough kayak have right of way, we never thought that the pilot could see us during landing. On retrospect, it didn't seem that dangerous, but when we were in kayak, and we saw one plane after the other approching right towards us at it was landing really scared the shit out of us.
Overall it was a great fun. Rare occasions of sunny weekends make them really special and given that there are so many things to do at Seattle, is reinforcing my decision to live in seattle more than any other city.
Summer is getting over soon, but i hope to make most out of the reminder, especially by doing simple things such as kayaking :)

know more about what I want
How do we do this? — 1 year ago
This is a very important goal, infact achieving this goal mean making better use of this time/life and this site.
How do we do this?
Do we base our “wants” on past experience?
As of today, all we have is our past, and our goals are in future.
Goals are driven by past. has anyone managed to let go the past, and tried to figure out how to come up with goals. know what you really want.
Also, what i notice is by the time i attain the goal, it may become irrelavent al together.
Wants are tuff…

The challange.
I have taken up challange to get 6 pack abs in next 6 months. I took the first step towards it and joined a Gym. In the over exitment i signed up for 18 months and prepaid the money. It was kinda of overkill but i am glad that i can offord it.
This will be the first of the many post that will track my progress physically.

Lost & Found...
After exactly 2 months i found my old cell phone in our Lost & Found department. Strangely the phone was lost in Lost & Found department as well and took a long time for recovery. However loss of phone was quite tragic and two months been very eventful because of this. Since i lost the phone i decided to get a new phone and got Moto Razor, long awaited change in my ph service. I got brand new phone got a more suitable plan for my needs only to realise that my new Moto Razor sucked. Subconciously i wanted to damage my phone and my will somehow got manifested when it got wet after i carelessly left it on my window.
Obviously the poor thin MotoRazor was no match for seattle rain, and it turned pale pink.... The phone was damanged and i became unreachale one more time... So much so i wanted to enjoy my secluded life , i was forced to take my friends handset, which even though crappy proved to be helpful at occasion.
Today after all the tragic events ( ignored here purposely, why document them and remember) when i found the phone i was really happy..
I also realised that Nokia is by far the best company for cell phones, i have used Moto Razor, Sony Erricson , and some other phone. But Nokia ki baat hi kuch aur hai.
I don't think i will ever get any other ph...assuming that nokia keep doing what it does best i.e. make better candy bars .... ;)

Sad part of making yourself happy is that someone will always be unhappy with that. I wonder if i really want this struggle to decide if i shoudl do what i want to do or if i should do that will make others happy. its more like a compulsive behavior that i am suffering from, i think i am approaching the my capacity to deal with this and i have to take the decision one way or other..this can't go on forever......

Matrix ...
As someone said longtime back, matrix will get you. For past 1.5 yrs i have that feeling of being over powered by M atrix. Ignorance is bliss but knoweldge is power. I am aware and can observe myself being strangled and choked more and more by matrix and by this mundane life style.
This very observation make it more painful, but at the same time creates an opportunuity to fight back.. I won't give up.... The spark in me will continue to light... bring it on... bring IT ON....

Orkut rocks,
Sure did my plans materialised. I moved today to a new home. This house is 3 br house and i will be sharing it with two other people one of them is owner. The humangous task of move was completed in record time of 4 hrs with the help Young and Restless Brian, Everyready Shirish and calm composed Aja.
Some people are like angeles, this Brian dude, i met him the first time last night at shirish's house and next day he helped me move. He worked very hard..Thnx Brian.
Shirish, What should i say about him... Repeatedly he superseeds my expecations.. This guy is everready and does what it takes to make things happen. Great friend.
Aja, the old buddy... came in at the last moment to lessen the load , because of his arriaval the dreaded breaking point was never reached.
Overall the move was a great sucess, no damages, no casualties and no zols.. it definetly shows that experience is the greatest guru..
I must also mention Namrata & Kapil, and Kapil who rushed in to support the plausible plan of trasnporting TV in the SUV.. Special thnx to Namrata who drove all the way from bellevue after a long day of workshop.
Kapil , the Seattle guru, once again proved that you can always count on old friends.
Overall very eventful day.. So it begins.....

Oh boy,
What an eventful day.
My best friend cleared her Qualifying exam, on her way to become a PhD.
So happy..
On lower note, had a slightly heated but interesting argument with Manager about general processes. But glad that we came to concensus.
Relaised that company provided email shouldn't be used for personal communication.

My fingers hurt.
If you think ergonomics is bullshit you are wrong. I have started realizing importance of ergonomics, my hands hurt big time, so does my legs. I no longer feel like going to my desk because of poor arrangement. I am perplexed that my company doesn't realise this and make any active efforts to resolve this situation. I hope they realize the productivity goes down significantly if people are not provided condusive work environment... Amazing! isn't it?

No matter how powerful Windows Media Player 10 is, it is not at all user friendly especially for people who are new to computers [Yes there are people who are new to computers even now, like my parents.] and microsoft doesn't seem to understand that.
The media player 10 options of Now playing are still confusing, after talking to my father for about 20 mins over international calls, he was barely able to play a dvd. I would blame the s/w which is not User friendly at all.
Why doesn't Media player just playes it automatically without any hassel on auto insert.
or other softwares do the right thing.. I guess instead of giving my laptop to my parents i should have gave them a dvd player. Atleast dvd players are easy compared to laptop..

1. Preheat oven to whatever temp u like [~450]
2. Take some Peas and Corn in a oven safe pan.
3. Put some Solf, Chunky Chat masala, salt , black pepper, chilly powder and mix it in peas, corn combination.
4. Now put the Corn, peas in the preheated oven and set it for about 10 mins.5. Enjoy your nicely Baked [for a lack of better word] corn+peas. You may put Buttor, lemon per your test.

Yet another cellphone
After refraining from purchasing a cell phone for almost 8 months, i finally fell pray to Free motorola cell + bluetooth headset offer today. I am on my way to becoming "american". Have been consistently purchasing random things for last one year even if they don't really matter.

Wednesdays!
It’s been almost a year I have learnt to take life 5 days at a time and that means wed is Point of no return. You have come too far from previous weekend and the next weekend is just about same from the last one. It also happens that Wed is one of the most productive days of the week too.
So what do you do, you got to keep going. Fortunately TBS gives me enough life refueling to hang in till TGIF.
Yes, I watch 7-10 pm “Everybody loves Raymond” every Wednesday.
Talking about “Everybody Loves Raymond” reminds of making a list of things I like.
I know I know, you would now say why do I care about what you like, well I bet you do hence you reading this, aren’t you?
See you again soon

Very cliche but it made me aware.
--------------------
You Decide !
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said:
"If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups."
"Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change."
"Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee

After a long time i spent one full day seating in my apartment and just relaxing. I waited for this for months. But every weekend something or the other would come up. But today was the lucky day. I did it. I spend the whole day at my apartment.
I almost felt that finally, atleast for one day i made use of my rent. Like a true "Desi" i decided to get more out of my rent money and also went to the Gym. I was glad that i can still run.
The most important thing i learnt today is that it takes about 10 mins to burn 100 Cals, and less then 2 mins to gulp a can of pepsi [180 calories]. :)
